SEBASTIAN — After almost three years of discussion, eight pickleball courts are headed to a site near the Sebastian Municipal Airport.
City officials Wednesday unanimously approved a contract with Nidy Sports Construction Co., of Longwood, to build a pickleball complex at the site of an old maintenance building on Airport Drive East.
The $252,450 contract includes site grading, concrete work and construction of the courts, along with an eight-foot fence.
Separately, City Manager Paul Carlisle said, the city will build restrooms, a pavilion and parking at the site. Lighting will be added in the next fiscal year, he said.
Construction should begin in May, with completion expected by the fall.
