Smash Park combines food, beer and backyard fun in West Des Moines Zachary Boyden-Holmes, DesMoines
Smash Park is now home to the world’s largest pickleball paddle.
The West Des Moines-based entertainment venue officially certified its massive 150-pound paddle with the Guinness World Records. “Big Blue” is 10 times larger than a traditional pickleball paddle at 13.6 feet tall and 6.9-feet-wide.
It’s made out of enough material to construct 180 regular-sized pickleball paddles.
Smash Park will be celebrating Big Blue all month with giant food and drink specials, including a five-pound Italian meat sandwich and a 192-ounce Moscow Mule.
It will also host a celebrity pickleball tournament at 10 a.m. April 14 with players from local media and Des Moines-based bands and businesses.
Smash Park, which opened at 6625 Coachlight Drive in West Des Moines last fall, has six indoor and two outdoor pickleball courts, stand-up shuffleboard, bags, bocce, ping pong and board games. It also has a fast-casual restaurant, 46 TVs, an outdoor beer garden and a full bar.
