WEST CHESTER — A pick-up pickleball game netted cash this week for the West Chester Food Cupboard.

On Feb. 13, Pastor Christopher J Franz of Advent Lutheran and Pastor Dan Krewson of Calvary Lutheran presented a $901 check to the West Chester Food Cupboard. The check represents the proceeds from a weekly Community Indoor Pickleball gathering that began in early 2019, founded by their respective congregations.

The “pick up pickleball” continues to gather every Tuesday night, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Advent Lutheran Church,  in West Chester. Participants are asked to make a donation of $1 or more to support the Food Cupboard. Funding for the net, paddles and supplies was provided by a grant from the Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s Forward in Faith Campaign.

Advent and Calvary plan to continue this gathering for the foreseeable future as a way to encourage fellowship and fitness while providing a new funding stream for the foodbank. Participants from seventh grade through Senior citizen are welcome to participate.
