Moline Illinois Parks and Recreation is hosting a designer purse auction to benefit construction of a new Riverside Park Pickleball Complex



Work to build pickleball courts at Park Ridge, Illinois’s Woodland Park could begin next spring following approval of proposed site improvements from the city’s plan commission.



These two new pickleball courts are at the south end of Drost Park in Maryville and should open in November.



There is a new pickleball court at Peters Park in Watseka, Illinois.



The Charleston City Council unanimously approved a resolution to give $2,400 in tourism funds to the Midwest Pickleball Indoor Championship.

The championship will be March 19, 20 and 21 at Eastern Illinois University.



The Park Ridge Park District has received a $400,000 state grant that officials say will be used to replace tennis with pickleball courts at Woodland Park, 1200 N. Western Ave., among other park improvements.



The Western DuPage Special Recreation Association partnered up with the Naperville, Illinois, Park District to get a crash course in pickleball.



The Deerfield Park District is stuck in the middle of a pickleball dispute — aficionados want outdoor courts but neighbors of proposed sites want them elsewhere.

At Woodland Park, tennis courts will be replaced by pickleball courts. Tennis areas are available elsewhere in the system, but pickleball, relatively new but growing popular in Park Ridge, had limited spaces to play.



When the weather started getting colder, the Pickleball of the Riverbend group was searching for an indoor facility after playing outdoors at Gordon Moore Park for several months. In November, the group found a new place to play — the Catholic Children’s Home at 1400 State St.

The Niles Park District has added its first outdoor pickleball courts. The two courts, which were created from an existing tennis court, opened in early August at Kirk Lane Park at Jonquil Terrace and Waukegan Road. The courts are lit.
